When duty and conscience no longer align.

The Human
Factor.

Are you currently serving — or have you recently been discharged — from the U.S. military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or National Guard?

Maybe this is for you?

01

Have you ever felt that something no longer aligned with your moral beliefs?

A decision. An order. A line you were asked to cross — and couldn’t forget.

02

Have you experienced pressure, silence, or consequences because of who you are — your identity, your beliefs, your faith?

03

Have you been asked to take part in operations or missions that didn’t feel right to you — even if no one around you questioned them?

04

Have you witnessed — or been given — orders that didn’t sit right with you?

05

If you serve as a military chaplain — has your role changed in ways that feel difficult to reconcile with your beliefs or responsibilities?

06

Are you a transgender service member affected by recent policies?

07

Have you started questioning things you once believed in?

08

Are you close to someone in the military who is going through this?

A project by
Il Fattore Umano

We are documentary filmmakers behind Il Fattore Umano (aka, The Human Factor), a long-running Italian TV series focused on human rights around the world, produced by RAI (the Italian Public Television).

This is not a conventional journalistic project.

This new film explores the inner conflict experienced by U.S. service members facing moral, ethical, or personal dilemmas — especially in these uncertain times. We are trying to understand what happens inside — the tension, the doubts, the weight of decisions and the cost they carry over time — when orders begin to challenge personal beliefs, faith, identity and sense of duty.
